RIVALS IS A SIMULATOR GAME ABOUT PORTRAYING SOMEONE AND TRYING TO GET THE PERSON OF YOUR DREAMS TO LOVE YOU.

Just like another notable “simulator” game, this has the same premise. Do whatever it takes to get your Senpai to fall in love with you, no matter what it takes.

Meet the two Yanderes, AeCha and Ayo.

RIVALS is one of the first, if not only, "yansim clones" where you can choose both the gender (male and female) of your Yandere and Senpai. Being able to choose both of the genders between the Yandere and Senpai provides us with one issue: doppelgangers. I wanted to make sure that there wouldn't be any bad cases of doppelgangers (aka you choose Ayo as your Yandere and Ayo as your Senpai), so two students will take the place should you select the same-sex for your Yandere and Senpai.

Welcome in Michizoe and Yasumi.

If you choose Ayo and a Male Senpai, Michizoe is who you'll be going after. Choose AeCha and choose a Female Senpai? Yasumi is who you desire.

Deep and Rich Systems:

Reputation:

• Being a student at Saburo University means you must keep up a good reputation. Should your reputation become too low, you may be kicked from the University.

Composure

• When viewing your current Rival and Senpai talk to each other, you become jealous and your composure begins to decay. Your outward appearance will begin to change as a result and can make Senpai disgusted if they see you with your composure too low, ending the game.

Sanity

• When your Sanity starts to decay, your conversation options will begin to change as well as how you see as the player. Sanity can also have a huge impact on your kill executions. High sanity will result in quick and cleaner kills, while lower sanity will be extremely sloppy and extremely long as your thrill is being filled.

Social

• Keeping up a good reputation means befriending and being social to various Students. Having a good friendship with someone, you can begin to ask favors of them and get them to do deeds for you.
• The Social System can affect many parts such as your reputation and other Students friendships. If you spread gossip with a low reputation, the Student you told to spread that rumor will remember that you told them it and can have negative effects. For instance: If you spread gossip about a Rival or someone else and they end up committing suicide, the Student can remember that when questioned by Police and you will have to snake your way out of it.

Clubs

• Taking part in Clubs can allow you to learn secrets they know of and allow you to befriend the entire club
• Befriending the entire club you can make them do things for you and they will take the blame
• If you join a club that your current Rival is in, you can gossip and spread drama and get them kicked lowering their reputation permanently.

Deep AI

• When we say Deep AI Systems, we mean AI that remember quite a lot.
• For instance, some AI can eavesdrop into conversations you have and remember that. If you ask your Rival to meet you at a specific place and time, the AI can sometimes remember that and then if and when the Police come to investigate you could be revealed as the culprit behind it.
• AI will also have their own unique conversations and not just a copy paste of bland dialogue in order to give them life.

Weapons

• Since your job is to get rid of your current RIVAL, you will have an assortment of equipment you can gain access in order to kill them off. Some weapons you may be able to find across the grounds are:
  • Baseball Bats
  • Knives
  • Fencing Swords
  • Crowbars
  • Wrenches
  • Pipes
  • Screwdrivers
  • Shovels
  • Golf Club
  • Letter Opener

Game Engine?

• Currently, Unreal Engine 4(.26) is being used with no plans to change.

Is this competing with <insert game name here>?

• It depends on what you call competition. I don't think there's anything to compete over, there can be many great games of the same genre, but execution and plans are the key to success.

Can I play this game?

• As of today (11/20/2021), there is no game build available to played, whenever game builds are produced Patrons on Patreon will get early access (1 week in advance) before it's pushed to the public.

How many people are working on RIVALS at this time?

• Just me.

Where are the game's assets made?

• I am currently making all the assets from scratch using Blender, using Pexels for various textures, as well as making all of the character models in VRoid Studio.
